Today, the party attempted to break up the alliance between the forest spirit and the swamp spirit. This may be one of the most ridiculous stories I will have told in chronicles.
After the mission to interfere with the alliance of the 2 eledhu had been on the board for 2 weeks, we finally decided to go with it. I did not in any way think we would get even remotely close to splitting them up, and my feelings were shared by some of my other party members, Ezra and Casper. However, we went on with it anyway. With levels in priest and historian, we figured out that we needed to sing a song to the spirit that would annoy/break the restraints of the control. So we thought of songs to sing. We thought of 3 songs: Lean on me, puff the magic dragon, and stand by me, none of which we knew the lyrics very well. So we went on. We arrived at the encounter, and tried and tried to convince the swamp spirit to leave the forest spirit, but it refused. So we sang. We sang the three songs, and failed at each one. Since no one knew the lyrics, we were able to get by the first or second verse before we started breaking down into incohesion. However, the singing was annoying the forest spirit slightly. That’s how we knew we were making some kind of progress with the singing, if anything at all. So, we brainstormed songs to sing and the forest spirit started walking away followed by the swamp spirit. In a stroke of stupidity, I suggested to my peers to sing the one song we knew all the lyrics to: the classic, Never Gonna Give You Up. So we started singing. After about 10 repetitions of the chorus, the forest spirit seemed to change in a split second. So did the swamp spirit. Both suddenly became more hostile, and started arguing with each other, eventually leading up to their separation.
Overall, it was a success. A ridiculous one, but a success nevertheless. Hopefully we are able to stop this from happening again, and manage to build the greenwall and be done with this nonsense...
