The news today is roughly the same as the news last week. The Riftlands have finally subdued the outbreak of wraith fever in the capital, but there are no new updates on the stonecall passages. Hopefully now that the wraith fever is gone for good, the Riftlands can focus on whatever is going on with the figments and people disappearing with the stonecall passages. Another dragon flew over our heads, and it was a different one this time, apparently. Goldy says that the dragon isn’t an immediate problem, and the party hasn’t gotten to the chivalry where we are the people worrying about the dragons, so that's that. No new updates on Goldy’s class Aethermancer, although I know some people still want to train it.
The situation down in Harmini is looking better than it has been for a while, the river is done thanks to the flooding from that big storm a few weeks ago. If we wanted, we could still go over there and help the elidhu of the Shimmerglass Sea settle in and enforce its boundaries. Hopefully that elidhu doesn’t have the same fate in store as the Swamp Spirit down in Halimin, and we could try and help make sure that’s the case. Anyhow it seems like Harmini is doing just fine, and Halimin is stuck in the same situation it has been for a while. Nobody can make any progress to close the breach in the Greenwall, but at least the fight is stable.
The Illion Alliance just took a big hit from one of the nasty spells coming from the Magocracy, and stuff doesn’t seem to be going so well up there. Two of the gates to the Illion Alliance (I can’t remember which) were taken by the Magocracy, who seem to be planning a siege. Seems like the battle hasn’t been lost yet, but if it continues at its current pace, the Magocracy will eventually win the battle. The Illion Alliance is being hard pressed to defend against barrages of nasty divination and pyromancy sorceries, however, the Illion Alliance does have a lot of skill involving semi-martials. If we traveled to Illionor again we’d probably be doing things like setting up ambushes on high ranking magocracy individuals, or spying on them to see what they will do next.
The situation in Illionor is obviously the most out of control, and we finally had someone who could speak elvish, so we decided to go there. When we arrived in the war room, we were in for a big surprise. Sorceries were being hurled through the windows, and a couple of Illion Alliance diviners were running all over the place dispelling them. A couple of witches were doing some frantic looking ritual on what I assume was something in the spiritscape, and another person was hurriedly trying to put out some fire that was probably caused by another of those nasty Nellenor sorceries. The last few people in the room were trying to make some plan on the war table in the midst of all of the chaos.
We had already decided that we wanted to try to set up ambushes for high ranking Magocracy individuals, so we decided to be on our way after a lot of running and screaming related to the sorceries coming through the window. The first encounter on the way we saw a bunch of alive but burning Illion Alliance soldiers, and in the midst of them, a scary looking mage from the Magocracy, who I assume was a high ranking nasty Nellenor pyromancer. The mage just calmly walked out of the encounter, and we decided this would be a perfect opportunity to capture a Magocracy leader, so we followed. Little did we know that this nasty Nellenor pyromancer was actually a really nasty Nellenor pyromancer. We found the Meagocracy leader with another scary looking mage and a bunch of what appeared to be rank three mages. We attacked them, and proceeded to get utterly beaten up by the really nasty Nellenor pyromancer who apparently also had some nasty diviner sorcery and reflected damage. We found a powerful Magocracy mage, possibly even an archmage, but unfortunately we lost.
Unfortunately we did not have time to do much else today other than make a sad attempt to guard the gate which we control which resulted in much of our gear being shattered and the Magocracy’s success. Hopefully by reading this chronicle you have learned about what you wished to find.
